Personal Tax Services Company Reactivates Lost Customers
A personal tax services company needed to verify that the last known addresses and telephone numbers for the previous year's customers were still valid before trying to contact 3.5 million of them.
With TARGUSinfo On-Demand Verification, the company updated the addresses for 16% of its current customers. TARGUSinfo also provided new phone numbers for nearly 60% of the customers with updated addresses.
As a result, the personal tax services company was able to contact many of its past customers who otherwise would have been lost. Plus the company didn't waste any manpower or resources by using wrong or incomplete contact information.
Big-Box Retailer Ensures That Customer Data Is Current for Marketing Campaigns
With close to 20% of the US population on the move in any given year, a big-box retailer found that it was struggling to maintain its customer marketing database.
The retailer tried to periodically verify that the information contained in the database was still valid, but monthly updates weren't keeping the information fresh enough.
Every outdated entry for a customer just wasted the retailer's marketing dollars. What's worse, the faulty information led to missed opportunities.
To prevent these losses, the retailer ran its files through NCOA (National Change of Address), available from the US Postal Service. The NCOA file contains the names and addresses of anyone who has notified the post office of an address change.
However, the postal service does not collect new telephone numbers with new addresses. Therefore, any record that has been updated through NCOA will need to have phone numbers verified and/or enhanced with an updated phone.
With TARGUSinfo On-Demand VerificationSM services, the retailer confirms the accuracy of its customer contact information before each marketing campaign. The retailer has increased the response rate to its direct mail campaigns by 7%. What's more, it has saved 6% of the costs for these campaigns by eliminating outdated contact information.
